AI and automation
AI that checks every claim so your team does not have to
BillCycle uses AI for four specific jobs: predicting denials, sorting denials by cause, drafting appeals and ranking AR. It works inside your billers’ daily queues. They review and decide.
- Denial risk shown before you submit
- Appeal letters drafted for review
- No claim sent without human approval
Four jobs, done every day
Where AI does the work in BillCycle
Each AI feature is tied to a step in the billing workflow and shows its reasoning, so your team can check it.
Predict denials
Before submission, each claim gets a risk check that names the likely denial reason and the fix.
Classify denials
When a denial comes back, BillCycle reads the codes and remarks and assigns a root cause, so it lands in the right queue.
Draft appeals
For denials worth appealing, BillCycle writes a first draft with the claim details and reason filled in.
Rank AR
Open claims are ordered by dollar value and how close they are to the payer’s timely filing limit.
Before submission
See the likely denial before the payer sends it
BillCycle compares each new claim to patterns in past claims and payer rules. If a claim looks likely to be denied, your biller sees why and what to change before it goes out.
Reason, not just a score
Flags say what is wrong, such as a missing modifier or a diagnosis that does not support the procedure.
Suggested fix
Each flag includes a recommended correction your biller can accept, edit or dismiss.
Learns from your outcomes
As payers pay or deny your claims, the checks reflect what actually happens with your payers.
| CPT | Mod | ICD-10 | Units | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 99214 | missing | E11.9 | 1 | $165.00 |
| 93000 | I10 | 1 | $48.00 | |
| 36415 | E11.9 | 1 | $12.00 |
When denials arrive
Denials sorted by why, not just when
A list of denials sorted by date tells you little. BillCycle groups them by root cause so your team fixes the source, not just the claim.
Root cause groups
Eligibility, authorization, coding, documentation, duplicate and timely filing denials each get their own queue.
Patterns you can act on
If one payer keeps denying the same code, it shows up as a trend, not a stack of separate claims.
Last 30 days 103 denials · $69.1K
Appeals
First drafts of appeal letters, ready for review
Writing appeals takes time most teams do not have, so many small denials never get appealed. BillCycle drafts the letter so your biller starts from a page, not a blank screen.
Claim details filled in
Patient, dates of service, codes, payer and denial reason are pulled from the claim.
Your biller has the final say
Edit the letter, attach records and approve. Nothing is sent without a person signing off.

AR follow-up
Work the claims most likely to cost you money
Aging buckets show how old a claim is. They do not show which one to call about first. BillCycle ranks open AR by dollar value and timely filing risk, so the top of the list is always the right place to start.
Value and deadline together
A large claim near its filing limit ranks above a small claim with time left.
Queues that update daily
As payments post and deadlines get closer, the order changes on its own.

Your team stays in control
What AI in BillCycle will not do
AI handles the repetitive checks. Your billers make the decisions.
- Submit a claim without approval
- Send an appeal without review
- Change codes without a person accepting
- Write off a balance on its own
- Contact patients on its own
- Hide why it flagged a claim
FAQ
Questions about AI in BillCycle
Does the AI replace our billers?
No. It removes repetitive checks and first drafts so your billers spend their time on decisions, payer calls and follow-up. The same team can keep up with more claims.
How does BillCycle predict a denial?
It checks each claim against payer rules and patterns from past claims and their outcomes. When a claim matches a known denial pattern, it shows the reason and a suggested fix.
Can we turn off an AI suggestion we disagree with?
Yes. Your biller can accept, edit or dismiss any flag or draft. Managers can also adjust which checks run for which payers.
Is our patient data used to train AI for other customers?
[Confirm AI data use policy before launch.] Your data is protected under the same HIPAA controls as the rest of BillCycle.
Does BillCycle handle eligibility checks or prior authorization with AI?
Those are handled by TrueCycle, a separate AI agent platform that works alongside BillCycle. BillCycle’s AI focuses on claims, denials, appeals and AR.
Do we need to set up or train the AI?
No setup is needed to start. The checks work from day one and become more specific to your payers as your claims and outcomes build up in BillCycle.
